On October 18, I was flying from Norfolk, Virginia to Sacramento, California and I faced another bad experience with American Airlines. This is the second bad experience in the last two months. I was already in the airplane when the flight attendant announced that Charlotte airport had some water issues so my flight was delayed. It meant that I was missing my connecting flight.
After few minutes, the flight attendant announced that at that point they did not know when the airplane will be departing so passengers started leaving the plane and tried to rebook their flights since the majority of the passengers were missing their connecting flight. American Airplanes agent was rude to all passengers, American Airlines did not have plan B for the situation. American Airlines agents were not able to give clear message or clear updates. I started rebooking my flight - they refused to rebook the flight from Norfolk to Charlotte, they said that I needed to pay again for the flight or I could fly to Charlotte and spend a night at the airport or I could book the hotel at my own expense. I had no other option but fly to Charlotte and book the hotel and pay for the hotel on my own. Another thing, do not buy their internet, it doesn't work most of the flight anyway.
If you want to be treated like normal passenger, fly with another airlines. I paid to leave on July 11th, I was forced to leave on the 12th. I paid to come back on July 16th, I was forced to come back on July 18th. I did a quick online booking, which led to 28 hours on hold on the phone. Seriously, American Airlines is the single worst company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. Is there any legal action I can take to get my money back?
They literally cost me nearly $1400 and didn't even give me a piece of the service I paid for. I paid for 4 plane seats, and didn't end up on a single one because of them. I lost over a thousand dollars and I have to reschedule the entire trip becasue they failed to get me to my appointment.
You could've offered me $1500 to take that trip and I would've refused because of how bad it is. I will never touch American Airlines property again, nor will I ever use Expedia again. American Airlines is having more problems than just canceling flights. Their airline service in general is just failing. From customer service to baggage handling and forward, their service standards level has just fallen to a horrible level. I just flew to Florida from NC over Memoial Weekend.
Had notified them I would be checking a firearm in my luggage the very same day I booked my flight with them in March. They notifed me of all FAA Laws/Rules/Guidelines and Instructions on flying a firearm. I was notified some time in April or May that my flight schedule had been changed. I called customer service to find out why and of course, no one could explain why.
They offered to try to fix it as best as they could, however, they still couldn't change the error when they booked me on the late flight returning to Fayetteville at 1145pm. This caused me to have to take off an extra day from work and burn extra vacation hours. Was also told when asked that they could offer me NOTHING for my inconvenience. So, my return was scheduled for July 16th with one stop in Philly.
Of course, I drive 2 hours from Murphy NC to Ashville for the airport, and in the parking lot I get a text saying they cancelled my flight to Philly, but not the one to CT. So their plan was to fly me to Philadelphia, leave me there, and not even take me to ct. Call them again and wait 7 hours for them to get off hold, and they tell me there are no flights to CT until the 18th. I looked and found Southwest and Delta Airlines were both flying from NC to CT with no issue, and was told that only American Airlines cancelled. So, they rescheduled my flight for the 18th, and I had to pay for a hotel for two days in NC as well as tell my boss at work that American Airlines abandoned me halfway across the country and refused to take me home.
I also had to call my grandfather and tell him for the next two days, I'd need him to drive an hour to my house to care for my animals. If AA and other airlines dont have enough pilots or other crew, or employees then don't schedule the flights. I and hundreds of others were on a flight cancelled right before boarding.
The airline and employees know in advance if the plane can't fly. We were not paid expensive round trip cab fare to the distant hotel. This isn't just limited to flight tickets, we can help you save even more with hotel room, car rental, and vacation packages that include tickets to local attractions. On 6/9 we had a family member's flight cancelled with no explanation. She spent 2 hours on hold waiting for customer service to no avail.
I took over and called again only to spend 8 hours through the entire night on hold. When it hit 8 hrs their customer service hung up on me. Our family member lost wages at work & no resolve. I wrote an email to AA's CEO. It was answered by Victoria Lambert, Executive Team, Customer Relations, American Airlines who called me & was very cold, borderline rude.
She did say the flight was cancelled due to crew shortage. Didn't really care how long were were on hold.just said their staff is busy. She offered a measley $150 & upped it to $175 for our time & inconvenience.
On June 15th she sent an email response with a promise of compensation which we have not received as of today June 19th. On top of this their flights are ALWAYS overbooked and beg/bribe customers to change flights & will compensate them from between $200 to $400. Their lack of caring and poor customer service has to go viral. New York–Kennedy – American's secondary transatlantic hub and its primary Latin American hub in the Northeast.
Once American started emphasizing the hub again in their first attempt to reestablish their hub here, they added many new domestic routes to the JFK hub. In April 2021, American made a major expansion at the LGA and JFK hubs due to a partnership with JetBlue. Because of the partnership, it allowed American to utilize all regional flights with regional jets that included a First Class Cabin at both the New York hubs, and add new year-round and seasonal service to destinations all over. The partnership allowed American to add at least a dozen new international routes, thus reestablishing JFK as a major international and domestic hub. The partnership allowed for their hub at JFK to complement its PHL hub, and make the airport a major connecting hub for both American and JetBlue. This expansion was one of the biggest expansions ever at the hub.
Despite this expansion, Delta still remains the biggest carrier at John F. Kennedy International Airport by destinations and number of passengers carried. American has about 12% of the market share at JFK, making it the third largest carrier at the airport behind Delta and JetBlue. JFK also serves as a major connecting point for other Oneworld carriers. You can check-in online for American Airlines flights by visiting the official website of the airline.
You can check-in online and print the boarding pass at home to save time. Online check-in is available from 24 hours to 45 minutes prior for domestic and from 24 hours to 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of the international flight. Unaccompanied minor service of American Airlines is to ensure that the child is boarded onto the aircraft, introduced to the flight attendant, chaperoned during connections, and released to the appropriate person at the destination. The airline's unaccompanied minor service is available for those aged 5 through 14 years old.
Children from 5-7 years of age can only travel on nonstop or direct flights. Parents will need to fill out the unaccompanied minor form and any necessary customs and immigration documents at the airport ticket counter on the day of departure. The form must remain with the child during the flight.
The Unaccompanied Minor service fee will be applied. Trip.com goes the extra mile to help you find the best choice of flight tickets and discount airfares to destinations all around the world. Deciding if a program is worth it depends on your home airport and where you're looking to fly. American Airlines flies to 50 countries , providing ample opportunity for passengers to use its service. AAdvantage, which is the airline's loyalty program, offers many opportunities for redeeming its miles for award flights. If American flies to your home airport and reaches the destinations you'd like to visit, it's a great airline to earn miles with.
I was flying out of Dallas to Amsterdam August 17th. American Airlines cancelled 100 flights that day due to weather. Strangely enough British Air or other flights didn't have the same weather out of Dallas.
After the original cancelled flight they put us on another American flight. When we got on that plane I asked the attendant if we were taking off and was told they were waiting the arrival of two pilots. Prior to this happening I booked a flight to NYC and am quite concerned that this Airline is having internal problems and the same thing will happen. The return flight finally comes, and I don't have the choice seating that I paid for because once again the flight I paid money for never took off.
Well, I sit down in my assigned seat that has 0 legroom and is insanely uncomfortable and what do you know? "Sorry sir but this side of the plane is too heavy we need someone to move." Well, my 140-pound ass had to get out of the seat and move. "We're sorry but a component of the plane has broken and we're going to need a new aircraft, please wait as we reboard you." Are you actually kidding? I had to stay ANOTHER 5 HOURS in the airport waiting for a new plane to come so we could take our flight. I get back to CT 3 days late, to find those extra 3 days also cost me $70 in airport parking.
Great, just missed the appt I waited a month and paid for. Well, I paid for 4 Choice Window seats so that I get the seats I want, and guess what? That $35 per seat isn't refunded or transferred to the new plane. They just decided I don't get to choose my seats anymore despite paying for them. First flight went down, landed in WA, then of course the 2nd flight was delayed three and a half hours. Got to NC over a day late tired as hell and didn't even have a reason to be there anymore.
Since 1981, as a means of creating revenue in a period of loss-making, American Airlines had offered a lifetime pass of unlimited travel, for the initial cost of $250,000. This entitled the pass holder to fly anywhere in the world. However, after some time, the airline realised they were making losses on the tickets, with the ticketholders costing them up to $1 million each. Ticketholders were booking large amounts of flights, and some ticketholders flying interstate for lunch or flying to London multiple times a month. AA raised the cost of the lifetime pass to $3 million, and then finally stopped offering it in 2003. AA then used litigation to cancel two of the lifetime offers, saying the passes "had been terminated due to fraudulent activity".
American Airlines, Inc. is a major American airline headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It is the world's largest airline when measured by fleet size, scheduled passengers carried, and revenue passenger mile. American, together with its regional partners, operates an extensive international and domestic network with almost 6,800 flights per day to nearly 350 destinations in more than 50 countries. American Airlines is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, the third-largest airline alliance in the world.
Regional service is operated by independent and subsidiary carriers under the brand name American Eagle. American Airlines is offering travelers additional flexibility in buying flight tickets in the light of concerns around coronavirus (COVID-19). The airline has extended its offer to waive change fees for customers who have booked flights through April 15, 2020. Travelers will have extra flexibility as any ticket booked by April 15 will not incur any change fees prior to the travel.
This facility is available for any of the airline's published non-refundable fares. It implies that travelers who have booked American Airlines flights through April 15 won't be charged a change fee, although they may have to pay the difference in airfares. According to airline officials, this move is aimed at providing customers added flexibility in purchasing flight tickets. American's partner airlines in the Oneworld alliance distribute frequent flyer miles based on which class your tickets are booked in.
The cheapest economy tickets may only earn 25% to 50% of flown miles, while premium economy, business-class and first-class tickets can earn 100% base miles and a cabin bonus between 10% and 50%. If you want to earn AAdvantage miles for an off-peak economy award ticket to Europe, you have plenty of time to do. The fastest way to accrue 45,000 AAdvantage miles is with a credit card sign-up bonus. Both Citi and Barclay issue co-branded American Airlines credit cards with welcome bonuses of 50,000 miles or higher. The spending requirements on these cards are also reasonable, with the Aviator Red Card requiring just a single purchase. Once you've found your flights, you can proceed with redeeming your award.
If you're logged in, most of the fields will be pre-filled and you'll need to remember to enter your Global Entry PASSID and pay for your flight. Ideally, you'd use a credit card that offers bonus miles on airline spending. My flight was cancelled and rescheduled with a 2-stop redeye flight. Wait times when calling customer service has been well over 3 hours, including a 7 hour call-back wait on Tuesday. The week I was there, I know Southwest Airlines had there booking system go down. However, on my return trip, from Phoenix to San Jose, our flight was delayed 45 minutes because 1 pilot and 1 flight attendant were late.
Maybe this pilot certification issue is more widespread? I'll try to make this short, but American Airlines screwed up so bad it can't even be explained in an essay. So I live in CT, and tried to take a trip to NC because I had an important appointment made over a month in advance, that cost $175 to make. My flight was scheduled for July 11th with 1 stop. Well, at midnight July 11th, hours before my flight, I was notified my flight got canceled.
